Since the creation of Adam, Shaitaan (may Allah curse him) has hated Adam and his children and has been an enemy against all mankind. Shaitaan has promised to lead all mankind astray except Allahâs sincere slaves.
| He (shaitaan) said, âMy Lord, since You made me go astray, I swear that I shall beautify for them (evils) on the earth, and shall lead all of them astray, except the devoted and sincere amongst Your worshippers. (al Hijr 15/39-40) |
Thus began the war of truth and falsehood between the party of Allah and the party of shaitaan. Shaitaan pursued all the methods that he is capable of to mislead the children of Adam and to beautify falsehood for them. Allah made an agreement with the children of Adam that they should not worship shaitaan as he is their clear enemy.
| Did I not enjoin upon you, O children of âÄdam, that you must not worship shaitaan, (because) he is a clear enemy for you. (YaSin 36/60) |
Allah sent His messengers as bringers of glad tidings and warners against shaitaan so that man would not have a plea against Allah after the coming of the messengers.
| Messengers giving good tidings and warning, so that people may have no plea against Allah after the Messengers (have come). Allah is All-Mighty, All-Wise. (an Nisa 4/165) |
The messengers of Allah continued to come with the sole task of subjugating the people to Allah alone, without any partners.
| And We certainly sent into every nation a messenger, [saying], “Worship Allah and avoid Taghut.” (an Nahl 16/36) |
So the chosen ones carried the torch of Tawheed inviting their communities to the worship of Allah subhana wa taâala and that they have no deity besides Him.
This torch of Tawheed passed from messenger to messenger until it came to the last prophet of Allah, the best of all creations and the best son of Adam, Muhammad, peace be upon the both of them. The prophet Muhammad, sallAllahu alayhi wa sallam, was the seal of the caravan of the messengers that lit up the way to Allah for mankind.
| Muhammad is not the father of [any] one of your men, but [he is] the Messenger of Allah and seal [i.e., last] of the prophets. (al Ahzab 33/40) |
Thus Allah azza wa jalla completed the deen for us and completed His blessings upon us and chose Islam as our deen.
The prophet, may Allah bless and grant him peace left the nation upon a luminous goal whose night is as bright as its day, none deviate from it except the perishable.
| Today, I have completed your deen for you, and have completed My blessing upon you, and chosen Islam as deen for you. (al Maidah 5/3) |
| Al-âIrbad ibn Sariyah, (May Allah be pleased with him), reported: The Prophet, (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), said, âI have left you upon a clear path, its clarity is the same by night or day. No one deviates from it after me but that he will be ruined.â (Sunan Ibn Majah, 44) |
But the war between shaitaan and Adamâs children has not ended. It is a long and difficult war wherein falsehood is adorned with the truth and then the party of shaitaan follows it and the party of Allah avoids it.
In this era shaitaan and his helpers have followed a different method to destroy Islam. They try to destroy Islam not by wiping the word Islam out of existence but by distorting the meaning of Islam and the meaning of Islamic terms in such a manner that it does not harm them nor does it harm their authority.
For this reason the problem and tribulation of people today is their ignorance of the true faith that Allah subahana wa taâala requires from them and their ignorance of the disbelief which Allah subhana wa taâala has asked them to stay away from. As a result they are unable to tell the difference between the disbeliever and the muslim nor do they know who is a disbeliever and who is a muslim according to the definition of their Lord, Allah subhana wa taâala.
The judge over people today is no longer the Quran and Sunnah but the views of people, their persuasions and convictions of these views as well as the quantity of information on Islam that the taghut allow them to know and which does not pose a danger to them.
Our aim is to fight shaitaan and his helpers and followers by clarifying and explaining Islamic terms they have distorted according to Qurâan and Sunnah with the understanding of the Salaf.
Definitions of Islamic Terms
Iman
Iman is to show Khudhu (submission) and Qabul (acceptance) of the Shari’ah and that which the Nabi sallalahu alayhi wa sallam brought, and by heart to have Iâtiqad (firm belief) and Tasdiq (confirm its truthfulness).
Jahiliyyah
Jahiliyyah literally means ignorance. Technically, it means an ignorance of Tawhid (monotheism) and divine law and absence of religious guidance as a result of which corruption dominates the life of a given people. The word Jahiliyyah refers to two things that are combined in this period: jahl (ignorance) and jahaalah (foolishness).
Shirk
Many people know, that praying to someone other than to Allah is shirk. So they think praying, fasting, performing hajj to anybody or to anythingy beside Allah taâala is shirk. But they are not aware, that being judged, seeking judgment by someone beside Allah falls into the same category and is shirk too.
Ilah
Ilah is that which the heart is bound by love. Meaning an object which the hearts are bound to with such; love, fear, hope, tawakkul, help, pray, sacrifice, votive, prostration and with all hidden types of ibadah. Ilah means maâluh meaning mabud- the one who is worshipped. All linguistic scholars described the meaning of ilah in such manner.
al Walaa waâl Baraa
The declaration of faith, ÊșThere is no god worthy of being worshipped but AllahÊș, requires you to love only for the sake of Allah, to hate only for the sake of Allah, to ally yourself only for the sake of Allah, to declare enmity only for the sake of Allah; it requires you to love what Allah loves and to hate what Allah hates. It also requires you to ally yourself to the Muslims wherever you find them and to oppose the disbelievers even if they are your closest kin.
Deen
In comprehensive terms, the term âDeenâ refers to âa way of life based upon obedience to laws of some authority, and a system of rewards and punishments according to those lawsâ.
Ibadah
The meaning given to Ibadah by many people is a very restricting explanation which only includes some of the types of Ibadah like prayer, fasting, pilgrimage, etc. But the real meaning of Ibadah is much more complex and includes more than only a few types of Ibadah.
Shariah
Shariah is often translated as âIslamic lawâ and is even more often associated with punishments like cutting hands, lashing, or stoning. This is not true; while all of the above-mentioned are part of the Shariah, they are not the Shariah itself.
Taghut
The meaning given to Taghut by many people is “stones”, “idols”, “shaytaan”, “shrines” or âeverything thatâs worshiped besides Allah and is pleased with it – like Firâawn (Pharaoh).â (As if Pharaoh was the first human taghut or there arenât examples of modern Pharaohs to mention.) While all these meanings are correct, it’s still a narrow definition and not the entire meaning of taghut. The real meaning of taghut is far more comprehensive.
Takfir
The meaning given to Takfir by many people is “making Takfir on Muslims” or “labeling a Muslim as kafir”.
But the true meaning of Takfir is declaring someone who does not come with Asludeen, and hence can’t be a muslim -despite of that he himself thinks he is a muslim- kafir and treating this person like a kafir has to be treatend.
Kufr
Many people believe, that kufr means disbelieving in Allah and/or denying Allah’s existence. Kufr in Arabic means covering and concealing something.
In sharâi terminology it means not believing in Allah and His Messenger, whether that is accompanied by denial or it is not accompanied by denial but rather doubt, or turning away from faith out of jealousy or arrogance, or because one is following whims and desires that prevent one from following the message.
